Assistance with Childcare
The Children’s Information Service is a free service for parents, carers children and employers seeking childcare and services within Gateshead. They provide accurate information and advice to make the process of finding childcare information easier.
They provide information on: Nursery education; Childcare; Leisure activities; Work-life-balance; Careers in Childcare; Training in Childcare
When you contact the service they will ask you about your information needs. If you are seeking childcare they need to know:
• |
|
The type of childcare you would prefer |
• |
|
The location of childcare |
• |
|
The days and times childcare is required |
• |
|
The age of the child or children |
• |
|
Any special requirements |
They will search their database for information that meets your needs and will either provide you with details by telephone, post, fax or email. You will then be able to contact childcare providers to arrange to visit and discuss your needs further.
They have a database of registered childcare, which includes childminders, playgroups, crèches, private nurseries and out of school schemes. We can provide information such as opening times and cost and details about nursery education.
If you are unsure which type of childcare is best for you and your child or you need financial help with childcare, they can supply booklets to help you. These include suggestions about what to look for when finding childcare and guidance as to what support there is available for childcare costs.
