What is HomeChoice?

Technically, HomeChoice is a ‘Choice Based Lettings’ scheme. All that means is people now have more choice over the types of home and area of Gateshead they want to live in.

Before, applicants would join a ‘housing list’ and wait to be contacted about a suitable property, but now, they have more say…

How Does It Work?

Bid For The Property Of Your Dreams?

It’s a bit like an auction really. Members can ‘bid’ for homes, not with money, but with the time they have built up on the scheme. So, if someone had been a HomeChoice member for five years, they would have more ‘time’ to bid with than someone who had only been a member for two months.
