Young Persons Neighbourhood Relations Officer

Picture Of Carla Colledge - The Gateshead Housing Company's Young Persons' Neighbourhood Relations Officer

Carla Colledge is the Young Persons Neighbourhood Relations Officer for The Gateshead Housing Company.

Carla works with young people and their families to improve their understanding of what anti-social behaviour is and how it can affect communities.

Carla works with young people across Gateshead, within Schools to talk to pupils about anti-social behaviour to encourage them not only to understand the consequences of causing anti-social behaviour but also what they can do if they suffer problems or witness anti-social behaviour themselves.

Carla currently works with young people and their families in partnership with Gateshead Thunder, a local Rugby Club.

Carla invited young people and their families to take part in a workshop at Gateshead Stadium to talk about how anti-social behaviour can affect the whole community and to help the young people to understand that they have a responsibility to their community to challenge anti-social behaviour and report it.

The young people who took part in this workshop then received free tickets to see a Gateshead Thunder Rugby match.  This scheme will continue until September 2007.

Carla said:  “I really enjoy working with young people and their families and, I feel like I am helping young people to understand that anti-social behaviour can have a big impact on the communities they live in.

“The young people I have worked with so far have really understood that they can help to stop anti-social behaviour and this will make a big difference on our estates in the future”

“If you are a young person who would like some advice about how to report problems of anti-social behaviour or you would like to work with me on one of my future projects please get in touch”.
