Welcome to Gateshead...
The Borough of Gateshead is the largest of the five Tyne and Wear districts, covering 55 square miles. It runs 12.6 miles along the south bank of the River Tyne.
Gateshead is a mix of both the urban areas of Central Gateshead, Felling,
Dunston and Blaydon, and the more westerly rural districts of Ryton, Whickham and parts of the Derwent Valley.
The borough is home to Gateshead International Stadium, one of Europe's premier athletics venues, and the MetroCentre - Europe's largest retail and leisure complex attracting millions of visitors each year.
Sculptures and artworks are sited across the borough - with The Angel of the North a symbol of North East pride.
The regenerated Gateshead Quays area, in East Gateshead, is also home to The Gateshead Millennium Bridge, BALTIC The Centre for Contemporary Art, and The Sage Gateshead, an international home for music and musical discovery.
Gateshead also has an extensive public transport system, by local rail, bus and the Metro train system, which takes passengers to Newcastle, North and South Tyneside, as well as Wearside in a matter of minutes.
The Gateshead Housing Company is proud to be assisting the people and area of Gateshead to achieve their aspirations.
